Inrecentdecades,theincidenceandprevalence\r\nof Type 2 Diabetes (T2DM) have increased and this has\r\nbecomeamajorthreattohumanhealth.Prediabetesisa\r\nperiod between normal glucose homeostasis and\r\ndiabetes,andincludesimpairedfastingglucose(IFG)and\r\nimpaired glucose tolerance (IGT). Intervention in pre\r\ndiabetes is a critical therapy in order to preventT2DM.\r\nRecently, many clinicians have begun to focus on this\r\nstage of prediabetes. Intervention in prediabetes is in\r\nlinewiththeideaofââ?¬Å?preventionofdiseaseââ?¬Âintraditional\r\nChinese medicine (TCM), which refers to carrying out\r\nminor active therapies to reverse the progress of a\r\ndisease. Hence, the ancient concept of ââ?¬Å?prevention of\r\ndiseaseââ?¬ÂinTCMcouldbeusedinthemoderntherapyof\r\nT2DM. More specifically, an early diagnosis should be\r\nmade using modern medical methods and treatment\r\nshould be started at once with modern therapeutic\r\nmethodsaswellascomplimentarytherapy,suchasTCM.
